We Welcome Professor Daniel Leidner to the Faculty of Mathematics/Computer Science

Daniel Leidner joined the University of Bremen as a cooperation professor in cognitive robotics manipulation in October 2024. He is also head of the Autonomy and Teleoperations Department at the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt, DLR).

SuUB Bremen Acquires Historical Newspapers from Bremen-Nord Region

Almost 200 newspaper volumes from Bremen-Nord, including issues of the Vegesacker Wochenblatt from 1849 onwards and the Nordwestdeutsche Landeszeitung, have been added to the Bremen State and University Library's collection.

Lars White joined the university in the 2024 summer semester as a professor of clinical psychology and pediatric psychotherapy. He is also co-head of the Psychotheratherapeutic University Outpatient Services over the Lifespan (PULS) at the University of Bremen.

Around a month after 1,500 law students began their studies, the Forum at Domshof building was opened in the city center on November 14, 2024. It is home to the Faculty of Law and several institutes.

Bucking the Trend – Growing Number of New Students at the University of Bremen

4,468 new students started at the University of Bremen in the 2024/25 winter semester. Although many German universities are experiencing a decline in the number of first-year students, the University of Bremen has seen an increase in the number of new students compared to the previous year.

An international team of researchers that includes scientists from MARUM, the Faculty of Geosciences, and the Institute of Environmental Physics of the University of Bremen, have investigated how a change in Atlantic circulation would impact the Amazon Rain Forest.

High Level of Third-Party Funding

A great strength of the University of Bremen is its considerable success in the acquisition of third-party funds, both in individual as well as in collaborative research. The German Research Foundation (DFG) is the largest provider of third-party finance: Besides the MARUM Cluster of Excellence, the University of Bremen is currently involved in no less than seven Collaborative Research Centers, as well as a number of research groups and priority programs.

Strategic Promotion of Talent

The targeted promotion of young talent, unlocking potential, and early independence are among the guiding principles of the University of Bremen. We offer intensive support to young academics in six DFG research training groups, numerous junior research groups and also through doctoral programs offered in cooperation with non-university research institutions.

Have You Heard of... the Carpentry Workshop?

The warm and earthy smell of wood gives it away: Here, in the University of Bremen’s maintenance depot, the carpentry workshop is the place for drilling, repairing, and sawing. This is master carpenter Christiane Sarnow’s realm, with her two journeypersons and four trainees.
